2012 Utah Highlights

  • Utah showed great online leadership with the passing of SB65 which through the Statewide Online Education Program allows funding to follow the student, expands access to online learning and allows multiple providers to be authorized to offer online courses.
  • Utah modeled its expansion of digital learning off the 10 Elements of High-Quality Digital Learning.

Current Strengths and Reform Opportunities

  • Utah could improve already strong instruction standards by including student-performance data in teacher effectiveness evaluations.
  • By completing the remaining 3 actions of Data Quality Campaign’s 10 State Actions, Utah will ensure effective use of data statewide.
