State Highlights
- North Carolina is pleased to be making great strides in the digital learning arena. We have major initiatives as well as significant legislative action underway in our state:
- A Digital Learning Plan effort recognizing that the transition to digital learning will require intense planning, preparation and multiple stakeholders
- An active and high functioning statewide virtual public school – NC Virtual Public School.
- North Carolina Virtual Public School’s Enrollment is at an all-time high, now serving 35,205 students enrolled in nearly 53,000 courses online.
- More than 150 courses, including 20 Advanced Placement courses, 16 world languages, 10 Occupational Course of Study courses and 12 arts courses are offered through the NCVPS.
- North Carolina is thinking very creatively about how to incorporate key components of digital age learning into the mainstream e.g. mastery of content, personalized learning, blended learning, and more.
