Transformational Education Reforms Become Law in Ohio

Governor Kasich Approves Reforms to Improve Quality of Education in the Buckeye State

Tallahassee, FL – Today, Jeb Bush, Chairman of the Foundation for Excellence in Education  and co-chair of Digital Learning Now! issued the following statement in response to Ohio Governor Kasich signing into law several education reforms which will improve the quality of Ohio’s education and provide more families and students with educational choice.

“The success of today’s students will determine our nation’s destiny.  Because of the bold leadership of Governor Kasich and House and Senate members, more students in the Buckeye state will have the opportunity to achieve their God-given potential,” said Jeb Bush, chairman of the Foundation for Excellence in Education and co-chair of Digital Learning Now!

“The U.S. education system currently operates as an 8-track tape in an iPod world.  After today, more students in Ohio will have access to the customized education digital learning can provide.  More Buckeye families will have a choice and a voice in their child’s education.  Ohio will also be able to identify and reward effective teachers. Ending the damaging practice of last in, first out and including vital student learning data in teacher evaluations equips Ohio to foster a dynamic, highly-skilled workforce of educators. ”
