2011 National Summit on Education Reform: Education Everywhere
Tallahassee, Florida – Jeb Bush and Bob Wise, co-chairs of Digital Learning Now!, will release the first-ever Nation’s Report Card on Digital Learning at the 2011 Excellence in Action National Summit on Education Reform on October 13 in San Francisco, California. The Report Card will grade each state based on their alignment with the 10 Elements of High Quality Digital Learning, which was developed by the Digital Learning Council last fall. The comprehensive assessment of state laws and policies will provide a roadmap for lawmakers and policymakers to advance reforms that unleash the potential of digital learning for students across America.
Digital learning allows students to learn in their own style, at their own pace, anytime and anywhere – a truly personalized educational experience that will better prepare students with the knowledge and skills to succeed in college and careers. Digital learning can also be a catalyst for transformational reform of America’s education. By harnessing the power of digital learning, lawmakers and policymakers can address the myriad of modern challenges facing today’s education – a shortage of certified teachers especially in rigorous math and science courses, a growing achievement gap between rich and poor, the pressure of declining revenue and the demand for better results.
Last fall, the Foundation for Excellence in Education convened the Digital Learning Council, a diverse group of more than 50 leaders in education, government, philanthropy, business, technology and policy than outlines the roadmap of reform for local, state and federal officials to advance digital learning.
