Third Annual Digital Learning Report Card Coming Soon!

On March 13, 2014, Digital Learning Now will release its third annual Digital Learning Report Card, which measures and grades each state’s K-12 education policies against the 10 Elements of High Quality Digital Learning.

The first Digital Learning Report Card was released in 2011 as part of the Roadmap for Reform, a comprehensive guide based on the 10 Elements for governors, chief state school officers, and lawmakers to adopt policies that transform education for the 21st century.

The second Digital Learning Report Card, released in 2012, measured states’ progress toward improving state education systems for students. It highlighted the work of states since the inaugural Report Card – including considering more than 700 digital learning-focused bills and adopting 152 of them – to create new opportunities for students through the use of technology in the classroom and beyond.

The Digital Learning Report Card has evolved based on feedback received from states. The 2013 Report Card includes 41 actionable metrics that examine state laws, administrative rules, and other policy levers to ensure the 10 Elements are addressed while presenting a broader picture of digital learning across the nation. Improvements include amplifying state voices, refining metrics to create a cohesive picture of how digital learning has modernized education in each state across our country, and enhancing the report’s presentation for ease of use and comprehension.

The Report Card offers a comprehensive state-by-state analysis of laws and policies that embrace new education models, utilize technology to make personalized learning a reality for all students, and eliminate the barriers to blended learning in K-12 education. States are making strides by offering high-quality digital learning options and supporting next-generation models of learning. The Report Card highlights the efforts of each state and underscores the opportunities for reform to create an environment where digital learning can thrive.
