NEW YORK, NY – Today, Jeb Bush – former governor of Florida, chairman of the Foundation for Excellence in Education and co-founder of Digital Learning Now! – will participate in an afternoon session on blended learning, the role of technology in education, and charter schools during the 2012 Education Nation Summit at The New York Public Library in Manhattan. Hosted by NBC News, the three-day event brings together more than 300 of the country’s leaders in education, government, business, philanthropy and media for solutions-focused conversations about the state of education in the nation.
“The face of education in America is changing. Through today’s technology we have the power to allow students to learn in their own style, at their own pace, anytime and anywhere; and, through high-quality public school choice, we can give families the opportunity to select the best school for their children,” said Gov. Bush. “But today’s state leaders must act now to begin utilizing these critical tools in order to transform education and provide every student the opportunity to reach his or her God-given potential. It is only through bold, strategic change that we will equip our students with a rigorous, high-quality, customized education to prepare them for success in college and their careers.”
As part of his participation in the Education Nation Summit, Gov. Bush will be a guest on CNBC’s “Squawk Box” and MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” during the 7 a.m. hour tomorrow.
The Education Nation Summit will stream live on www.EducationNation.com, and portions will be broadcast on the television and cable networks of NBC News. Once concluded, videos of the events will be posted online. The 2012 Education Nation Summit will highlight 10 case studies featuring successful results from schools and programs that have implemented the solutions discussed at the event.
