In an effort to close the broadband gap, the FCC Chairman Julius Genachowski and HUD Secretary Shaun Donovan will work with Connect2Compete (C2C), a national initiative to expand access to technology. HUD will join C2C’s Digital Literacy Coalition as a digital literacy outreach partner and C2C and Best Buy’s Geek Squad will work together to launch a free digital literacy training program. The programs will initially take place in Chicago, Detroit, Miami, Philadelphia, St. Paul, and Washington, D.C., with plans for twelve additional cities through the summer.
