Survey: Teachers, Parents Want More Ed. Tech. A Leading Education by Advancing Digital Commission survey suggests that 82% of teachers and 71% of parents think that more technology would be helpful for learning.  The LEAD Commission’s goal was to determine the amount of support for edtech among teachers and parents.

Joel Klein: Just Putting a Computer in Front of a Student Doesn’t Make Education Better. Klein believes that teachers want to be empowered, become more effective, and excited about the process of learning.  Edtech innovators must make technology not only interesting and engaging for the student, but also have some sort of value-add for the instructors.

Nielsen: Majority of Mobile U.S. Teens Now Own Smartphones. US mobile owners who own smartphones is now up over 5% since May, with a majority of mobile-owning American teens having smartphones (58%). Teens are the fastest-growing smartphone owners, but young adults still take the cake with 74% owning smartphones.

Nine of the courses are being hosted with Coursera according to the university, “are open to anyone with a computer, anywhere.”
